Berberine may help increase insulin sensitivity and it works similar to metformin.
Today, I’m going to share the best way to get rid of belly fat. When you have a fatty liver, the fat can accumulate so much that it spills off into the abdominal cavity, causing belly fat.
We really need to target the cause of a fatty liver, which is too much insulin. Reducing insulin will help you burn fat, especially in the mid-section.
Things like metformin and gastric bypass may help you lose weight because they help you drop insulin. But, there are healthier and more natural ways to decrease your insulin and lose weight fast.
The best ways to lose belly fat fast:
1. Go on a low-carb diet
2. Do intermittent fasting
3. Do core exercises
4. Consume fiber (greens)
5. Take berberine
6. Drink apple cider vinegar (1 tbsp. in a glass of water 2-3x per day)
7. Lower your stress
8. Get good sleep
The best exercises to burn belly fat:
1. Sitting toe touches
2. Bicycle crunches
3. Burpees
4. The boat pose
5. The forward plank

Eric, really good video. I would just add two things: People should walk for 20 mins after meals, just a relaxed walk, which will definitely bring the sugar down in the 70-130 zone, and 3 days of weight lifting. It doesn’t have to be heavy, just reps at low weights will do, but it adds lean mass and speeds up weight loss and metabolism. I hate the fact that in the USA we treat everything with meds, which is bad because all of them have other side effects. The real answer is actually in daily moderate exercise and a clean diet, and that is the real medicine for longevity. Anyway, Thanks for putting together a nice video. I know that takes a lot of prep and effort. One last thing: I started using a freestyle libre CGM, and that has really changed how I eat and walk after exercise. Seeing the sugar spike, and come down, is the real motivation. People should look into that. Insurance doesn’t cover it, but my health is important to me, so I happily pay $135 a month. Knowledge is power and motivation in my opinion.
Keto+18:6IF down 20lbs and counting in two weeks. Also daily cardio and 2-3 times a week strength training. Thanks for the information
Since changed my diet and eating patterns I can now say I can see my toes. I don’t know how many kgs or pounds I lost but there is a significant difference. Thank you Dr.
Being a Muslim, I know that prophet Muhammad used to fast Mondays and Thursdays outside of Ramadhan. When I saw this Dr. speaking about intermittent fasting I was motivated to do the same.
Those were great tips. I started taking Berberine for congestion about a year ago. And It has been the largest improvement on my sleep. I have always been a mouth breather and stuffed up at night causing interrupted sleep. It has eliminated waking up abruptly at night because breathing so much better . Good to know it can help with other issues related to my weight as well.
I started low-carb and IF at the same time and went hard on it. No cheat days in the first 2 months. I’ve dropped 30 pounds in about 10 weeks and 2 inches off my waist as 33yo guy. I still bike and walk like I normally did and it’s just melting away. I’m back to my wedding weight already and I’m pushing to get back to my college weight within the next year.
Yeah You
Keep going 😊🚲
Thanks for taking us through the core exercises. Really helpful.
I started IF and Healthy Keto mid of last year and have lost 22lbs in just 7months without much else. This is a very timely video as I was contemplating how to reduce the belly fat further – thank you Dr. Berg, I feel so much more in control of my health!

Great content!
I’m 44, been on strict keto for 12 months, lift 3-4 days per week, cardio 2 times per week, lost 45lbs, now 6’3” 210lbs., supplement magnesium/boron/q10/saw palmetto/protein.
I’ve tried 17/7 fast 3-4 times per week and separately 21/3 fast 2 times a week
Initially lost size/inches everywhere. My muscular volume/ inches continues to increase.
I have weighed 210 now going on 4 months. Body composition has changed some (putting on muscle), however can’t seem to loose final mid section/ handles (abs are showing some, but not completely). Feel like I’m stalled.
Question: Any suggestions on loosing this final amount of fat?
Hello. You can try the suggestion here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcEWTbh-wVY

I would say monitor your calories you’re consuming daily. If for example you’re eating 2,500, try reducing that by 200-300 calories and weigh yourself daily to see what progress you make from there.
Similar thing happened to me, I had to cut back on the lifting for a few weeks and that got the fat coming off again. 5’10 was 225lbs in 2/2021 now down to 168lbs. I have been doing keto and OMAD with a 48 fast 1 to 2 times per month. I stalled at 190, then 180, then again around 175, I cut back on the lifting and instead just did some aerobic for 60 minutes, that kicked me down to 168 after a couple of weeks.
U have to confuse your body change it up u might want to go more intensive with the fast your body just got use to the sa.e routine so it stop loosing maybe a 20: 4 for 3 days and egg fast
Been doing keto and IF since 2014. I’ve learned so much, I was 185 when I started now I’m 155lbs of muscle. I am truly grateful for the knowledge this man has taught me. I have been a nurse for 12 years and it touched on nutrition in one chapter and the foods they advocated were 🥛 dairy yogurt cheese (in small amounts, fish chicken and red meat sparingly, breads and grains (whole grains), oils and fats sparingly. All of my patients are diabetics their diets are highly processed. This scared me as I noticed they became sicker and sicker that is what started me on this journey.
what is IF?
@Gyen Abubakar intermittent fasting
December 30th 2021, I weighed 276lbs. I’m 6’1 and 30yrs old. My jaw hit the floor seeing this number. One night I couldn’t sleep well, so I was on a YouTube binge, it just so happened I stumbled on your video! I’ve watched near all your videos on keto, IF,OMAD, and burning belly fat. I decided to take the plunge and try this IF and keto at the same time. Today 2-6-22 I’m down to 231lbs!!! I’ve lost near 45lbs in 5 weeks!! Never felt better! My old clothes all fit again and I have tons of energy and I’m rarely hungry! My goal weight is 190lbs and I hope to hit that goal by May of 2022!!! Thanks Dr Berg your the man!! I’ve shared your videos with lots of friends and family who are also in a journey to get healthy!!
Wow 👏🏼
♥️
Congratulations and I hope you’ve hit your goal. I’m same height but 58 years old and that weight creeps up on you. But I too have seen success mostly getting carbs down. Great that you’ve learned and have seen first hand what these eating behaviors can do for you. Good luck.
Did you reach your goal?
That’s crazy!! Nice work. Did you make any videos about it? I’d love to see what worked for you
Thank you Dr Berg !! Been following you since 2018 and I actually lost 4 inches of belly fat. I am a petite girl and it didn’t look right, so I did exactly what you said,
I understand everything in all your videos! I thank you 🙏
In mid-Aug of last year, My wife (46) and I (51) started the IF (18:6) and HIIT x3 (18 min); so far, as of Feb 1, we have lost 15lbs ea…..Thank you Dr. Berg for all your guidance and coaching
L
What is the IF exactly please?
@Bella Lopez intermittent fasting
What is HIIT?
So are you and your wife only doing 18 mins of HIIT 3xs per week? Did I read that correctly? I ask bc I want to lose about the same amount of weight and that is very inspiring! And 18mins x 3days sounds absolutely doable. Thanks for the share!
Dr. Berg, I have to thank you so much. I have been watching all of your videos on Intermittent Fasting and fat loss strategies and I have been able to lose 20 lbs by following your simple steps in changing behavior and diet (combined with exercising) and I can tell you from someone who has lost weight in the past, using IF with your diet tips have made weight loss 100 times easier. You put out amazing content and it is appreciated!
Dr. Berg, as always, THANK YOU! This video came right on time. As a mother of 5 with diastasis recti and belly fat left over from pregnancies and overeating – this video is extremely helpful. I needed the guide list to check off what I’ve already learned from you in the past year. I’ve since lost over 30lbs and only need to lose 15 more lbs to reach my goal weight (weighed myself today – I lost 2lbs from the previous week!). I don’t eat as much as I use to and I try to choose healthier choices instead. From today on, I’m going to only eat fruits and veggies, smoothies, more fiber to hit my goal! More sleep and avc will be added as well! I’ll ask my doc about berberine as they have me on hbp meds right now…
@Wild Swan Okay, thank you!!
I have diastasis too and have been struggling with it for 4 years now. I feel ya!!!! You’re not alone ❤
What pills you think is better to Lawer sugar in our body .some thing not working for me can’t figure it out
fesrhrhrhs
Mannn, preciate this. Day 2 of intermentent fasting & not too bad. Some cravings, but haven’t lost to 1 yet. 2nd day of ONLY 2 meals in the day. Constant water & light workout. Gonna Amp it up with these exercises mentioned. Thanks Doc 🙏🏾
How’s the weight loss going?
I started intermittent fasting just after Christmas 2021 and it is the best decision I ever made that I wish I had made even earlier. My back hasn’t felt better in 10+ years. I’ve lost 25lbs and my sleep apnea and snoring have gone down to almost zero. Thank you Dr. Berg. Love your videos and, bonus, you crack me up every now and then as well.
@beaconlight ofcourse!!!!!
Nice.. I need to lose 25 pounds
keto, intermittent dieting, lower calories – none of it worked for me
What is fasting is this? Can u explain to me please. I weight a 280 pounds and no matter how hard I try it just won’t move
I did keto and IF back in 2019 when I was told I have a fatty liver and pre diabetic and had great results (my waist got tiny! 24in. And I was so lean and STRONG) but the pandemic threw me off so bad. This January I gave up alcohol and went back to what I know works for me. Just completed a 48 hour fast the other day and so far I’ve lost 12lbs since January 3rd. I have about 10-12 more pounds until I reach my goal. I’m feeling amazing lately and have no cravings for anything. This man has probably saved my life or at least increased my longevity lol
@Zyriana AreNee no 🤣
Same place. But I’m 74 going into the pandemic, lost the drive to exercise since mall walking was what I did thstvreally worked, and got in a no go anywhere mode. I work at home telecommute so no need to leave the house. Most friends died during the I anemic so here I am. Wanting to get rid ofvthis hard belly that pushes on and hurts my rib cage. One step at a time.

Dr Berg. I’m a 38 yr old male and a Captain in the Fire Department here in San Antonio Texas. I have been on the 16:8 keto and have lost over 30lbs in less than 3 months. Also for months I had been suffering from heart palpitations and could not figure out why. Well thanks to your awesome Electrolyte Powder and eating more greens my life is back. Thank you so much for posting honest health content and continuing to save many people’s lives.

I noticed heart palpations as well… I just started doing keto a couple days or so… but my heart is beating harder than usual…idk if it’s the deit or maybe some other supplements I’m taking?

After I lose weight should I be back to normal routine or continue this???
@Anthony Russell 1000% false
Thanks a lot
Retiring from dentistry would cure 90% of my problems.
@Anthony Russell excellent. Your lifting obviously builds the muscles in your shoulders and chest, hence it is “tighter”. Now tell me has it reduced the fats only in your arms and chest too?
Obviously not. Go read what others have said and stop deluding yourself.
You are not reducing your belly fat because you are doing it wrong, and others have already pointed out how it works:
1. Do all-round weight training. I did the “big three”, and 3 other supplementary exercises. None of them focuses exclusively on the abs. The main goal here is to burn calories, and build muscle, because muscle helps increase metabolism. Do at least 3 gym sessions.
2. Do regular light cardio. Just brisk walking 30 minutes after your gym session, or on alternate days.
3. Control your diet to obtain a calorie deficit.
4. Sleep well.
I did the first three, although not as successful for #4. But I still managed to cut about 1kg a month (which is normal and more sustainable), and reduced the overall fats around my body, including my belly. I would have seen even better results if I sleep better, and cut more carbs from my diet, but I am living proof that doing ab exercises is not necessary to cut belly fat, and simply do not work.
