Today I’m going to cover the top 10 foods that help you lose belly fat.

Cortisol is a stress hormone that turns protein into sugar. It causes your liver to make new sugar out of non-carbohydrate sources, such as fat, ketones and protein.

If your cortisol is really high, your body will make a lot of sugar. This increase in sugar will elevate insulin, and insulin makes belly fat. Consuming a high-carb diet and sugar, or eating too frequently can also cause your insulin to spike, leading to belly fat.

You’ll typically notice belly fat after the liver is already fatty because a lot of the visceral fat around the organs comes from a spill-off of fat from the liver. So, the best foods to help you lose belly fat address lowering insulin, lowering cortisol or supporting the liver.

  2. Hey, Doc – just wanted to say thanks. I saw this video Saturday, and incorporated the eggs, burger, sprouts, sauerkraut into my diet on Sunday. I cut out almost all carbs. On Monday morning, my blood-sugar had dropped from 136 to 102. (I became a Stage 2 diabetic last year.) On Tuesday morning, it had dropped to 84.     • @barack the composer I don’t do juicing, it is a big sugar spike. Sugar is sugar regardless of its origin.

      One HERBALIST told me two things:
      She told me that as long as I eat an equal amount of fiber, that that fiber would cancel an equal amount of sugar.

      She also said that I could add some nuts to that juicing so that the presence of good fats and fiber would slow down the sugar spike.

    • @Phillips Mom All a calorie deficit means, is that you’re using more calories per day, than you’re ingesting. You can google your maintenance calories. It will be something of a combination of your gender, age, weight, activity level, etc. For instance my maintenance is around 2800 calories a day. If I eat 2400 daily, consistently, and I mean consistently, for a month or so. I’ll lose around 4-6 pounds. And it sucks, but you have to keep your activity up to train your brain to burn fat and not muscle. Eat protein. Avoid excessive carbs.
