Spinach Benefits and Caution Explained By Dr. Berg
In this video, Dr. Berg talks about the health benefits of spinach. It's rich in iron, magnesium, vitamins K and C, and folic acid, B2, and B6. It supports the eyes preventing macular degeneration and is good for inflammation. However, spinach has oxalates, which can cause kidney stones. You can steam your spinach, you can add lemon juice, potassium citrate, and adding calcium (which binds with oxalates in the digestive system). But make sure spinach is organic to prevent chemicals. However, the health benefits of spinach are huge. Talk to a Product Advisor to find the best product for you! Call 1-540-299-1556 with your questions about Dr. Berg's products. I was having stomach issues and I ate nothing but spinach for almost a year, and I felt so good and healthy! Never had any issues with kidney stones. Perhaps this could be an issue if you are consuming other foods too. Or perhaps it just depend on the person.

@Dr. Eric Berg DC thanks
I started eating spinach at least 3 times a week. I feel like it helps me burp out excessive gas and reduces my bloating 😀
Been eating spinach for 50+ years and doing fine.
Wow that’s awesome
You’re popeye the sailor man.
@djlowtek stop eating spinach raw why do you think he said Indians cook the crap out of it.
Sorry but Americans don’t know much about greens Greeks and Italians eat all sort of greens and almost all the time the greens have been blanched or boiled and always lemon juice.
Traditional Greek salad has no greens leaves in it the only salad they eat lots of raw is iceberg and cos because it’s mostly water.
Cooked, steamed or raw?
I ate spinach almost every day. Always felt good until I noticed i was always tired. Never got kidney stones but then I developed high iron. Been donating religiously and got my iron back to normal levels but I can see how it’s good for people with low iron.
It’s the rubiscolin that makes you feel so good! Look it up.
I ate spinach salad daily during the pandemic 😷
I have been eating spinach every day for 3 years. Literally every day. There are NO bad side effects, just good nutrition. No oxalate stones etc…. OK, I must admit my forearms are swelling up.
@Hitlard you obviously wasn’t listening to anything he said because what he said is what you said, he just mentioned more
Popeye .hahahaha
Popeyes reference? Lol
I eat spinach for the rubiscolin. It gets me high.
@Galaxy lmao
I had a kidney stone and I’m a vegetarian. At first I thought it was my diet which contains a lot of foods that have oxylates seeing it was a calcium oxylate stone. But came to find out that it was all that soda pop I was drinking. Once I stopped drinking soda I had no more problems with stones, and I still eat spinach including green smoothies. No Problems. Also, two of my uncles also had a kidney stone. Painful. And neither one of them are vegetarian nor do they eat high oxylate foods. But both of them were soda drinkers. They both stopped and, like me, have no more problems with stones. Now I’m not saying that soda is the main thing causing this, but cutting it out of our diets made a huge difference in more ways than one.
If multiple family members have kidney stones you should look into that since there are certain kidney conditions that are very inheritable and are known to cause kidney stones throughout life. My mom was diagnosed with Polycystic kidney disease (50% chance her children inherit it) and before getting diagnosed she had troublesome kidney stones at least 4-5 times by age 60.
Great info! I eat spinach 3-4 times a week. I stopped eating raw spinach 18 years ago after having my gallbladder removed. Now I learn that I often overlook it, eliminating all the benefits. Ok, finally got it. Thank you for this and all the other videos.
This guys degree isn’t what makes him a good doctor. It’s his willingness to spread what he knows with no guarantee of a reward. GBH.
Well said and that my friend is exactly why he’s so successful.
You said it right 2000 %. Dr Berg is very generous to spread what he knows to public without expecting any monetary reward. God bless you Dr Berg and your entire family now and forever. You are definitely a good child of God, Our Creator. 🙏🙏🙏❤️👍👌🏻
@Beatriz Masacayan AMEN.
Very true! Have had kidney stones twice and they’re extremely painful! Slim and a healthy eater for all my life but ate spinach most days, also lots of fresh beetroot in my diet along with almonds and dark organic chocolate. Thought I was helping my body with great nutrients but was overloading with oxolate- what a painful lesson to learn! Pain makes you mindful people so take care and stay healthy. 🙂❤️
“don’t eat cooked vegetables” “don’t eat raw vegetables” Quiet! I’m just tryna eat my veggies in peace!
🤣 same girl
Yeah i 100% agree
❤
Then just ferment your vegetables if you can’t cook or eat them raw
Hilarious.
Cool vid as always… I really enjoyed the point about buying organic spinach. I used to buy the commercial spinach because fit the budget, but I was sooooo frustrated that I was not losing any weight. I switched to organic spinach as well as buying as much organic food as I can and I have been getting better results. I just wanted to add my 2 cents in case anyone missed how important that last line is as it relates to buying organic….
Your channel is absolutely fantastic! I love watching your videos, I am a student of nutrition and I find the information you provide so valuable. Thank you!

I eat spinach for the rubiscolin. It gets me high.

Great info Dr Berg! I would love to see a video on a what are the best things to eat/do when you’re suffering from a cold, flu, bronchitis etc… thank you!
I love raw organic spinach! I eat it at least once daily, usually as the “green” of my salad instead of lettuce. Luckily I’m not a sufferer of kidney stones so this was only good news for me. Thank you Dr Berg for the informative videos. Because of your advice and guidance I am now 35 pounds down! Keep the videos coming. And I love the videos with your lovely wife as well. Such yummy recipes!
Can u just explain how you take it

@PurpleRhino
My sister got stones every time she got pregnant. (8 times). She died at 48.
You can tell you eat it daily because you’re beautiful.
@GottaWannaDance wow, sorry about your sister. May her soul rest in peace.
I eat spinach for the rubiscolin. It gets me high.
The only things left safe to eat anymore is water and raw kale.

Humor is great medicine
Thank you thank you! I am learning so much from your videos! Can you please specify which vegetables we can and cannot eat in order to stay in ketosis??
always droppin knowledge dr. b thank you I’ve learned so much from you. my 6 year old was over weight and borderline type 2 thanks to us watching all your vids he’s down to healthy weight eating better !!!
thank you Dr. Berg, I have been using your info with my diet. the thing I learned as a dirt farmer is to now try to replace what my soil is missing to make my vegetables work more in my favor/flavor. I dropped 50 lbs. a few years ago but couldn’t get anymore off. now I’m back to losing about 3 lbs. a month which I believe is right where I want my weight loss to be. keep up the good work, you Sir are saving lives.
Spinach is my favourite green leafy vegetable! I steam it until just done and have it with fresh cooked salmon and put black pepper and lemon juice and real butter on all of it. It is so good! Thanks for this, Dr Berg.
